Baby shower bird cage cake design Inspired by Michelle Cake Designs
I have just had a lovely two days teaching the bird cage cake design and this time my class cake is for a very special baby shower I’m going to on Sunday.
The class is all about setting up a three tier cake with a centre pole whether it is the classic wedding cake or this bird cage cake idea. Sometimes it’s what happens under the fondant icing that makes a successful cake.
I can not tell you how much I am enjoying teaching and I think I’m learning more from my students than they are from me – it’s so nice to spend time with people who love cake decorating! I have made friends that I know will last the test of time – I’m very lucky.
I had planned to make a separate cake for the baby shower but then I would have had a cake going to waste so I used the invitation as a guide and used it colours to decorate the finished cake. I’m really pleased with the the overall effect and I added silver highlights as the invitation also had silver.
This is a very special baby shower for a family that has really been there for me the last few years so I am really really looking forward to Sunday!
Bye for now, Michelle

I love bird cages! I think they are beautiful and I’m seeing more and more made out of cakes. Gorgeous!
Diana I love them to – especially when I get the chance to make a bird cage cake that matches the table centerpieces for the wedding or christening celebration.
Soooooo sooooooo beautiful! I am really inspired!
