Gold wedding cake Inspired by Michelle Cake Designs
I made this gold wedding cake two weeks ago and fell in love with the simplicity of the design.
The cakes were covered in ivory fondant. The sides of each tier have been painted with a combination of gold toned shimmer dusts then buffed.
Then I piped the lines in royal ivory icing while spinning on a turntable. I loved the finished cakes on their own but when I set it up at the reception and saw the most beautiful roses in place it really did look beautiful. With the soft light the cake just glowed and the shimmer catches different light as you move around the cake.
With the fantastic range of shimmers you can buy these days this sort of effect is endless. I loved it so much I used the same idea on a cake which showcases the roses from my rose making class. I put this photo on my facebook page and got a fabulous response so I have included it here as well as another version of this wedding cake idea.
Bye for now, Michelle

Michelle, you let me pleasantly surprised. Your designs always leave me speechless (I don’t know I used the proper expression)
Congratulations again from Carlet, Spain.

This cake is absolutely amazing! So elegant. If I tried to do that it would be one crazy mess.
MICHELLE, I came across your website two days ago and I am hooked. Your cakes are A- m- a- z- i -n -g, you are very kind for sharing all this information with others.
Thanks soooooo much and God bless you.
I love this cake. When you say you buffed the cake after you painted the shimmer dusts on … is it the same as when you are buffing fondant?
Hi Delwyn, I’m not too sure what buffing fondant is but for the shimmer I just use the brush. Bye for now, Michelle
