I have just spent a lovely couple of days making gumpaste roses and peony flowers and I thought I would share my new discovery – drying racks for sugar flowers.

In the past I have set up all sorts of drying racks – timber dowels, old baskets etc etc none of which were really safe to use. I recently discovered these drying racks which really are plastic shelving racks for kitchen cupboards. I love $2.00 dollars shops and I found these in a hot dollar store in Sydney whilst searching for something else.

They are so so so perfect. They come in different sizes and the racks pictured were 42cm x 23cm. I was able to dry seven large and four medium roses on one rack with room for more. They are strong, the legs are collapsible which means they store flat – perfect and they can be stacked giving you lots of drying space for little bench space – even more perfect.

The price was $5.00 each which beats any cake decorating drying rack that I have seen.

Now all I have to do is turn these flowers into cakes!!

Bye for now, Michelle

Fantastic! Thanks Michelle, I can’t believe that I already have these in my pantry….and you just know they’re not staying in there now haha! See you in a couple of weeks at your Square Cake course – I’m so excited! :)
