A 21st birthday cake with a halloween style coffin and headstone theme is not my normal request for a girls 21st birthday!!
The cake was done in a black, grey and white colour scheme. Both the coffin and the headstone are cake.
I added a few white flowers to soften the theme for a bit of fun along with some spider webs.
Even though this was a 21st birthday cake it makes the perfect halloween cake idea as well. A coffin cake without the headstone would also look great as would the headstone with a mound of dirt in front of it.
Cake decorating tip:
So that your coffin lid does not sag when it is offset on the top of the cake – ice a board that has been cut to the same dimensions and bring the icing down over the sides so the board can not be seen. Just remember to lift it off before you start serving the cake!!!
