Yellow truck 2nd birthday cake for boys – the entire design for this cake came from the party invitation which is always a great place to start when you are trying to think of a design.
I try and keep the designs simple but effective so that the cake is unique but still affordable. In this case the time went into the truck which was a simple 3D version of the one on the invitation.
The same script and the colours were used so that everything matched on the day.
Cake decorating tip:
You can make your fondant cake toppers and figurines like teddy bears and in this case the truck well in advance so there is no last minute rush. Things you need to keep in mind are
- Some colours especially blue and purple fade quite quickly so keep the decorations in a cool, dry and dark place.
- Cover them lightly to stop dust from settling but do not wrap them in plastic as they still hold a fair amount of moisture and they will sweat.
