30th birthday cupcake tower.

I have put a few photos together of a cupcake tower that I made this week for a 30th birthday celebration. The theme was black, purple and silver – diamonds and pearls.

The top cutting tier – coconut cake with white chocolate ganache layers was shimmered dark to light purple with two rows of purple pearls and a single row of diamante to finish.

The birthday girls initial “L” was made in black fondant and decorated with large diamante. On delivery the fantastic “30″ in diamante was added to the cake.

The birthday inscription was finished in silver and three purple candles one for each decade added to the cake board.

The white chocolate cupcakes were baked in black foil paper cases and topped with white and purple buttercream swirls. These were then decorated with large silver pearls and either white or purple smaller pearls all edible.

I cover the display boards that held the buttercream cupcakes in black and purple fondant and trimmed them with purple ribbon to match the top tier. The cupcakes were then displayed alternate purple/white/purple buttercream etc.

The purple has photographed a little out of true colour. I added a couple of the cupcakes to the cupcake tower display so you can see the effect. The reason I usually do not photograph the whole display is that I decorate my buttercream cupcakes in their packing boxes that way they do not get damaged so that is why you will see a lot of my pictures of cupcakes in boxes.

Bye for now, Michelle
